Go through the work order carefully. Was the work you agreed to done? If there is anything extra – or missing – on the bill, ask your questions now. It is unlikely, but everyone makes mistakes. If you don’t understand something, get an explanation then – not later.

Clarify everything. The worst time to ask questions about repairs on your Smart is after you’ve paid and driven away. Getting these questions asked at a distance may not get you answers you need when you’re ten miles down the highway.

Still concerned? Ask to take a test drive before making payment. Ask if the service representative will ride with you, if needed.

The overriding factor here is to get your Smart repaired correctly- the first time you take it for a specific need. The last thing you want to do is pay for repairs, drive a mile away – and have the problem surface again.

If the repair isn’t done correctly, ask about an overnight loaner – at their expense this time, if you didn’t get free use in the beginning. This should be a simple courtesy when the work wasn’t done as promised.
